NMR is native to Numerai, a hedge fund company based in San Francisco that aims to enable users to trade equities on Ethereum. NMR is used to stake in a weekly prediction tournament that Numerai organizes with Erasure, a decentralized prediction staking protocol. The tournament requires users to submit their trading algorithms, allowing anyone to bet on the most likely outcomes. NMR tokens are used as rewards for the successful predictions, while staked NMRs are burned for the unsuccessful ones.
NMR has a circulating supply of around 5.92 million tokens out of a maximum of 11 million, at a price of $27.05 on April 21, 2022.
