AUDIO is native to Audius, a music protocol that aims to decentralize and democratize the music industry by giving more control and money back to the artists – through the elimination of middlemen such as record companies and streaming platforms. Its native token, AUDIO, currently has three main functions on the platform:
- Staking: AUDIO can be staked for validators to run nodes to secure the network which token delegators would in return receive a share of network fees.
- Access to exclusive features: Artists can unlock exclusive features like artists’ tokens and badges, and voting powers from fans who support them.
- Governance: Token holders can vote on the platform’s future development.
AUDIO has a circulating supply of around 608 million tokens out of a total of 1.07 billion, with a price at $0.68 on February 24, 2022.
